Terms of Service
Last updated: 23 July 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Battery Choice. By using the site you agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
1. What we do
Battery Choice is a free online tool that gives Australian homeowners a personalised home-battery recommendation based on the answers and photos they provide. If you choose, we can pass your details to a maximum of two installers who can prepare a formal quote.
2. Recommendations are estimates, not quotes
Every price, payback period, rebate amount, and savings figure shown on the site is an estimate generated by our AI using publicly available data and your inputs. Real prices depend on:
- The installer's current wholesale cost, labour rates, and margin.
- On-site conditions we cannot see (switchboard age, cable runs, roof complexity, permits).
- Government rebate rules at the time of installation.
Only the written quote you receive from a licensed installer is a binding price. We are not responsible for the difference between our estimate and an installer's actual quote.
3. Installers are independent third parties
When you submit a quote request, we pass your details to up to two independent installer businesses. We do not employ these installers, do not perform the installation ourselves, and do not guarantee the outcome of their work, the accuracy of their quote, or the timeliness of their response.
Any contract, warranty, or dispute arising from an installation is strictly between you and the installer. Consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law continue to apply to the installer's services and the products they supply.
4. Your responsibilities
By using the service, you warrant that:
- You are at least 18 years old.
- You own the property, or have permission from the owner to arrange a battery installation.
- The information you provide (address, usage, existing solar, etc.) is accurate and complete.
- You will not use the service to submit fraudulent or misleading information.
- You will not attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, overload, or misuse the site.
5. Government rebates
Our system estimates federal (CBRS), solar (STC), and applicable state rebates based on public rules at the time of your evaluation. Rebates are not guaranteed. To actually receive them, your installer, battery, and system configuration must meet the eligibility criteria set by the relevant scheme at the time of installation. Rules change frequently — always confirm the current rebate with your installer before you commit.
6. Our right to change or discontinue the service
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time, with or without notice. We may also update these Terms — the "Last updated" date at the top will change if we do.
7. Intellectual property
The site, the AI evaluation logic, brand tier data, and all copy on the site are our property. You may use our recommendation for your personal decision-making and share it with installers. You may not copy, resell, or republish our content for commercial purposes without written permission.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the service — including any difference between our estimated price and an installer's actual quote, any change in government rebates between your evaluation and your installation, or any dispute with an installer.
Nothing in these Terms excludes any guarantee, right, or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of Victoria.
